Ankle Conditions

Ankle conditions and injuries are common reasons for people to seek the expertise of physiotherapists. A prevalent background issue is the strain placed on the ankle joint during sports and physical activities, leading to sprains, strains, or ligament damage. More commonly though innocuous 'cockling over' can cause injury to the area. Generally, injuries can result in pain, instability, swelling, bruising and reduced mobility. Another common cause is accidents or missteps that lead to fractures or dislocations. Additionally, chronic conditions like osteoarthritis can affect the ankle, causing pain and stiffness.

Physiotherapy plays a crucial role in rehabilitating ankle injuries by focusing on strengthening the surrounding muscles, improving range of motion, and enhancing balance and stability, allowing individuals to return to their daily activities with reduced pain and a lower risk of re-injury. Confidence building is also a big part of this rehab.
